Is your website ready for an ad network? A publisher checklist
Denis · Checked 16 October 2026
An ad-network account does not create an audience. First establish that people use your site and that advertising fits the experience you want to offer them.
Check readiness before adding a script
- Traffic: know where visitors come from and which pages they actually read.
- Ownership: make sure you control the source you plan to submit.
- Content: check the network's rules for your subject and visitor countries.
- Experience: decide which ad formats you are willing to show and test them on mobile.
- Measurement: save a baseline for loading time and the action your page is meant to achieve.
If the audience is still tiny, focus on useful pages and distribution first. Adding more ad units cannot compensate for having no visitors. Do not buy or manufacture visits to make a dashboard look active.
Understand two different kinds of earnings
Publisher revenue comes from monetizing your own approved traffic. Referral revenue comes from introducing an active customer to a network. HilltopAds' public referral guide describes a standard commission of 5% of its profit from referred active publishers or advertisers, not 5% of their entire revenue. A registration alone is not the payable outcome.
Read the traffic and payout rules
HilltopAds lists bot, fraudulent, incentivized and certain low-quality traffic as prohibited. Review the full rules for your source rather than treating any click as eligible traffic. An application and the provider's approval remain separate steps.
Before connecting advertising, verify the available payout method for your account, its network where applicable, minimum, fees, hold period and any identity checks. The presence of a method on a help page does not mean your own payout setup is complete.
When can a publisher receive USDT?
HilltopAds' publisher payout guide, checked on 16 October 2026, lists a $100 minimum for USDT on TRC20 or ERC20. It requires invoice and payment information. Its schedule is NET7, with publisher payments on Tuesdays, subject to eligibility. Reaching the minimum today does not mean an immediate transfer today.
The publisher fee table lists 0.35% + $4 for either USDT network. USDC is not listed there; do not assume it is supported. Confirm the actual options and charge in your account. These are publisher terms, not independent confirmation that referral withdrawals follow identical rules.
For a fee illustration only: $100 − ($100 × 0.0035 + $4) = $95.65. This is USD-denominated arithmetic before any other deduction or conversion, not earned income or a promise to receive 95.65 USDT. The actual payout record determines the currency and net amount.
Keep three checks separate
- Earnings: use eligible activity, not visits or a registration count, to establish revenue.
- Payout readiness: confirm your account requirements, minimum and chosen network; an advertised payment logo is not a completed setup.
- Receipt: reconcile the payout amount and fee with Payment history and the receiving account. Do not count the same commission again when it is paid.
If you are only testing a small new audience, treat the withdrawal threshold as a cash-flow constraint. Build a genuine traffic source first; do not buy low-quality visits to get past it.
Run a bounded test and keep the baseline
Start with one approved source and a format that you are comfortable showing. Compare verified revenue with lost subscriptions, slower pages and visitor complaints. Disable the format if the tradeoff does not suit the site. Keep a record of the dates and settings so you can tell which change caused a result.
